In his remarks he said his agency’s top priority at campaign events is the protectee and not protesters. His comments were in response to a committee member’s question about some of 2016 Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s contentious rallies where protesters were removed. Mr. Clancy also stressed, though, that agents will only address protesters if they move into a secure zone or become a direct threat to the protectee.
