Everett Alvarez is the author of Chained Eagle: The Heroic Story of the First American Shot Down over North Vietnam, published by Potomac Books. Navy Lieutenant Alvarez, a pilot shot down over North Vietnam in 1964 and held prisoner until 1973, wrote his memoir with Anthony S. Pitch. He talked about his experience as the first pilot taken prisoner in North Vietnam, and recounted his memories of the treatment he received by the North Vietnamese during his eight years as a POW.
