Crowley talked about the importance of diplomatic efforts to help the U.S. image abroad and boost public opinion. what he called the “U.S. public diplomacy deficit” and how ambassadors could overcome this deficit in the course of their official duties. Regarding Russia’s intervention in Ukraine, he praised President Obama’s handling of the situation and Russian President Putin, saying that President Obama had used his limited options “effectively.” This event took place at the American Foreign Service Association and was sponsored by the Public Diplomacy Alumni Association. close
