Stephen Hardin talked about the military strategy of the Texas revolution. He focused on Sam Houston and argued that his behavior is most explainable when seen in the light of his goal of adding Texas to the Union. Professor Hardin is the author of Texian Iliad: A Military History of the Texas Revolution. He showed slides during his presentation and then responded to questions from members of the audience
“What Was Houston Thinking?: Understanding Houston’s Bizarre Behavior During the San Jacinto Campaign” was a program given during the second annual Texas State General Land Office Save Texas History Symposium. The 2011 symposium, titled “The Texas Revolution at 175: 'Onward was the Cry!'” focused on the 175th anniversary of the Texas Revolution. It was held at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin.
