Justice, Homeland Security and Treasury department officials testified about efforts to stop terrorist financing in front of the House Financial Services Committee. Representative Sue Kelly (R-New York) chaired the Subcommittee on oversight and investigations. Witnesses included; Alice Fisher, Deputy Assistant Attorney General for Criminal Division at the Department of Justice, Richard Hoglund, Director of the Customs Investigations Office at the Department of Homeland Security, and James Sloan, Director the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the Treasury Department. Among the topics they addressed were the use of charitable organizations as fronts for terrorism funding, efforts by law enforcement to investigate and find sources of funding, and prosecutions resulting from investigations. close
