The subcommittee heard testimony from Ms. Browner on the proposed reauthorization of funding for the Superfund hazardous waste cleanup program. She testified on the Clinton administration’s concerns about the Superfund program, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency’s agenda for enforcing the Superfund legislation. The Superfund program was set up to provide a specific amount of funding to prioritizing and cleaning up the worst hazardous waste sites in the United States. Concerns have been raised as to the effectiveness and efficiency of the program. close
