Justice Department and other law enforcement officials held a press conference in New Orleans regarding new criminal charges and a settlement in the BP oil spill. Attorney General Holder outlined the 14 charges which included 11 counts of manslaughter and one obstruction of justice. He also said that BP agreed to a $4.5 billion settlement which would be disbursed to federal agencies for restoration, preservation and conservation. Other investigations into civil and criminal charges remained open. close
