Suzanne Spaulding talked about strengthening and securing national critical infrastructure against hazards such as extreme weather, cyber- and human-made threats, and physical deterioration. She mentioned incidents such as a train crash due to aging infrastructure that leaked toxic chemicals into a creek and Hurricane Sandy. Topics included the appropriate role of government and the private sector in addressing these hazards, and increasing trust between government and business.
