Governor Nikki Haley (R) announced the appointment U.S. Representative Tim Scott (R-SC) to succeed to the seat of U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), who resigned from the Senate as of January 1, 2013, to become the president of the Heritage Foundation.
