State and federal officials testified at a hearing on the progress made on the deployment of the First Responder Network Authority, or FirstNet, a public safety broadband network created from wireless spectrum set aside for emergency communications. FirstNet CEO Michael Poth said progress has been made in implementing the network. Both committee members and state representatives expressed concern over the communication between FirstNet officials with partner states and making sure rural areas are not left out of the FirstNet system. close
