President Obama spoke at the Washington Navy Yard about the state of the economy and initiatives to assist veterans moving into the civilian workforce. He noted better-than-expected employment statistics, but said economic recovery would “take some time.” He also cited divisive U.S. debt talks, the Japan earthquake and tsunami, revolts in Arab countries and the European debt crisis as factors contributing to slack growth.
