A portion of a hearing on aviation safety was shown.

The Subcommittee on Aviation heard testimony on the U.S. Airways Flight 1549 accident. On January 15, 2009, the flight ditched into the Hudson River at approximately 3:30 p.m. following a double-engine failure while en rout to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. There were 150 passengers and five crew onboard the Airbus A-320. About 90 seconds after departing LaGuardia International Airport Captain Sullenberger reported experiencing a double-bird strike. close
