The Subcommittee on Aviation heard testimony on the U.S. Airways Flight 1549 accident. On January 15, 2009, the flight ditched into the Hudson River at approximately 3:30 p.m. following a double-engine failure while en rout to Charlotte Douglas International Airport. There were 150 passengers and five crew onboard the Airbus A-320. About 90 seconds after departing LaGuardia International Airport Captain Sullenberger reported experiencing a double-bird strike.
