Witnesses testified on the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) contracting practices. The House Oversight Committee released a report accusing the IRS of improperly awarding contracts to the information technology firm Strong Castle. Representative Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) questioned Braulio Castillo, president and CEO of Strong Castle, over an injury which led to his disability rating and made him eligible for veterans based contracts. She accused him of “gaming the system” and “breaking the trust with veterans.” Gregory Roseman, an IRS deputy director who was accused of improperly influencing the contract selection process involving Strong Castle, invoked his 5th Amendment right. close
