Labor Secretary Tom Perez began the daily White House briefing by discussing the executive order to be signed by President Obama that day to raise the minimum wage for employees of federal contractors to $10.10 an hour. Secretary Perez answered questions, including on why the order would not take effect until January 1, 2015, and the number of workers who would be helped by this increase.
