President Obama held a news conference. He focused on his jobs plan and urged members of Congress to pass it, saying that "any senator who is thinking about voting against the bill needs to explain why they oppose something that would provide urgent help to the economy". He also responded to reporter questions concerning the government backing of loans to Solyndra, China currency, U.S.- Pakistan relations, protests on Wall Street, and the European debt crisis.
