Committee members met to discuss the administration’s proposed reform of the federally insured pension benefit program and to improve the solvency of the pension benefit guarantee corporation. Since 1991, they have heard testimony that this pension system faces financial difficulty stemming from the failure of certain companies to provide properly funded pensions.
