In response to the elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, President Obama announced the formation of a task force on gun violence reduction that would be led by Vice President Biden. Following his statement, the president answered questions from reporters, which were primarily about “fiscal cliff” negotiations and Speaker Boehner’s “Plan B” proposal to avoid the fiscal cliff.
“Fiscal cliff” referred to the impending tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012 if Congress failed to reach a new budget agreement.
