The subcommittee heard testimony from administrators in the Department of Defense on the new policy on homosexuals in the U.S. military recently introduced by President Clinton. The new policy would prevent military personnel from being investigated or discharged because of allegations of homosexuality, but would also allow discharges on the basis of homosexual conduct. The Department of Defense personnel responded to questions on the viability of the new policy, and its possible effects on morale and preparedness of U.S. troops. close
