John Fox Sullivan and Edward Reilly talked about the results of an Allstate-National Journal Heartland Monitor opinion poll on the economy and the middle class. Mr. Sullivan spoke on the survey as a whole, how it began and its purpose. Edward Reilly detailed the results of the poll. Among the findings of the poll were that majority of Americans believed the country was on the right path and supported President Obama. A sharp racial divide existed, however, with African American and Hispanics having both more optimistic feelings about the country’s path and President Obama than white Americans.
The program was part of a National Journal forum on the economy and the middle class.
