Outgoing White House Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Alan Krueger talked about job creation and the economy at Politico’s Playbook Luncheon at the Mayflower Hotel. Topics included President Obama’s economic speech in Chattanooga the next day, the next Federal Reserve chair, and the debt ceiling and possibility of a government shutdown. In his remarks he explained some of his personal economic pop culture terms, such as the “Kramer effect” to describe middle-aged men who have dropped out of the work force, and compared the U.S. defaulting on its debt to “Sharknado,” a science fiction movie in which a giant tornado causes sharks to rain down on Los Angeles. close
