Telephone lines were open for comments on student loan debt and college costs from viewers who had just seen a November 12, 2012, program from ProPublica and the Lower East Side Tenement Museum. Video clips from that program were shown, and clips of Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) speaking on the Senate floor, Bill Gates at a Washington Ideas Forum, and Rohit Chopra at a Senate committee hearing. 
Marian Wang, by Skype, and Josh Mitchell, by telephone, talked about the federal government’s role in guaranteeing and setting rates for college student loan rates. Topics included the impact of education debt on the economy, the effects of college education on employment, and for-profit colleges versus non-profit colleges.
