Jim Yong Kim talked with reporters and responded to questions at a “Monitor Breakfast” hosted by the Christian Science Monitor at the St. Regis Hotel. President Kim spoke about the role of the World Bank in the global response to the spread of the Ebola virus, including the disease’s humanitarian and economic consequences. He said the biggest concern with the Ebola outbreak in West Africa was the need for more doctors and health workers. President Kim said that the World Bank had pledged $400 million dollars to the Ebola situation with $175 million available for supplies on the ground and the bulk going to rebuilding health systems and economic structures of the impacted countries. close
