Justice Department officials and Internet industry officials testified about the federal law enforcement response to recent Internet hacking attacks and the overall security of the Internet. Attorney General Reno and Director Freeh said that tougher penalties should be levied for computer fraud and that some laws should be revised to reflect problems with cyber-crime. They also said that the private sector was primarily responsible for the overall security of Internet sites.
