Vice President Biden was officially sworn-in on Sunday, January 20, 2013, at his residence on the grounds of the Naval Observatory by Justice Sonya Sotomayor. Historically, Inaugural Ceremonies are not held on a Sunday because Courts and other public institutions are not open. Public ceremonies were scheduled the next day at the U.S. Capitol.
