President Obama was officially sworn-in by Chief Justice John Roberts on Sunday, January 20, 2013, in a private ceremony in the Blue Room of the White House. Historically, Inaugural Ceremonies are not held on a Sunday because courts and other public institutions are not open. The public ceremony was scheduled for the following day at the U.S. Capitol.
