Scientists involved in cloning research, Food and Drug Administration officials, bioethicists, religious leaders and others testified before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee both for and against human cloning research. Although there were no laws against it, the cloning of humans was considered by many to be scientifically unethical. The subcommittee was considering writing legislation banning cloning research. close
