Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) and Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D-MD) discussed the fiscal cliff negotiations during an exchange on the floor about the House schedule for the next week. House Republican Leader Eric Cantor told members to be ready for a weekend session. He said the House would not adjourn until the “fiscal cliff” issue was settled. “Fiscal cliff” referred to impending tax increases and budget cuts at the end of 2012 if Congress failed to reach a new budget agreement. close
