Social Security Task Force members heard testimony from Chairman Greenspan and two Government Accounting Office on the future status of the Social Security system. They testified about the short term and long term prospects for the program and its impact on the federal budget. They also testified about ways to extend the solvency of the trust fund. Greenspan stressed the need for incremental changes to the system and the need for citizens to save more for their retirement, no matter what system they use. close
