Former Senator and presidential candidate John Edwards (D-NC) spoke to reporters following the announcement that jurors found him guilty on one count and were unable to reach a verdict in the other five. The judge declared a mistrial on those five counts. Because a mistrial was declared, the prosecutor can decide to try him again on those five charges.
John Edwards was accused of using presidential campaign donations in excess of campaign finance limits to hide a relationship he had with Rielle Hunter, who was pregnant at the time with his child.
