Labour Party Leader Ed Miliband spoke at his party’s 2014 conference in Manchester, England, saying that the next eight months leading up to the general election would be his interview with the British people for the job of prime minister. He began his remarks to the party members by commenting on the overnight airstrikes in Syria, saying that he supported President Obama’s decision and calling on the United Nations Security Council to pass a resolution to combat *ISIL, which was holding a British aid worker hostage. Mr. Miliband also praised the outcome of the recent Scottish independence referendum and outlined the priorities of his party’s agenda leading into the 2015 election, including National Health Service (NHS) funding, increasing the minimum wage, and environmental priorities.
