Historian Martin Duberman talked about his book, Howard Zinn: A Life on the Left, a biography of controversial historian and leftist activist Howard Zinn, author of The People’s History of the United States. Mr. Duberman used exclusive access to Zinn’s archives to tell the late Spelman and Boston University professor’s story. Mr. Duberman talked about Zinn with the online editor of Dissent Magazine, Nick Serpe. 
Mr. Duberman is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History at the CUNY Graduate Center, and the author of more than 20 books. Mr. Duberman won a Bancroft Prize in 1962 for Charles Francis Adams, 1807-1866. He has also been a finalist for both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. In 2007, he received the American Historical Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
