Dr Pepper Museum
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2014 LCV Cities Tour” in Waco, Texas, from Novermber 3-6 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Time Warner Cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Executive Director Jack McKinney gave a tour of the Dr Pepper Museum and talked about the soft drink that was invented in Waco, Texas, in 1885. In 1891, the creators of the drink started the Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company, which later became Dr Pepper Company. The Museum is housed in the 1906 Artesian Manufacturing and Bottling Company building located in downtown Waco. Mr. McKinney showed old bottling equipment, both man powered and mechanized, as well as other items from their archives.
