After hearing from Republican Senate candidate Woody Jenkins' and Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu’s attorneys two days earlier, the committee met to discuss whether to further investigate Mr. Jenkins' allegations of voter fraud in the Louisiana Senate election. They also debated whether there should be a limited investigation into the voter fraud, as the committee’s two specially appointed attorneys recommended, or a broad investigation. Senator Landrieu defeated Mr. Jenkins by 5,788 votes. The Senate Rules Committee adjourned for a lunch break, and to allow members to report the hearings activities to their caucuses, and would reconvene at the call of the chair. close
