The House Government Reform Committee heard testimony on the federal government’s role in helping state and local governments fight crime. Harry Shorstein talked about Jacksonville’s approach to reducing juvenile crime and showed a video about Jacksonville’s juvenile crime prevention program. John Timoney talked about a new approach for police officers called “CompStat,” which he said was effective in reducing crime in the most densely populated cities.
