The U.S. House and Senate opened the 107th Congress at noon in both chambers later in the day. Members arrived for the congressional prayer breakfast at St. Peter’s Church earlier that morning. Ilona Nickels, C-SPAN’s resident Congressional scholar, described the ceremonial openings of the chambers by voiceover. Paul Winters, new media producer for C-SPAN, talked about congressional information available on C-SPAN’s Internet web site. David Lightman, Congressional reporter for the Hartford Courant participated from the U.S. Capitol. close
