Having been nominated for reappointment, General Henry Shelton testified about a variety of topics including a potential international response to unrest in East Timor, arms control, peacekeeping missions, and North Korean missile technology. Additionally, he testified that he had permitted a British general, serving under U.S. Army General Clark as part of the NATO peacekeeping force in Kosovo, to disregard an order to remove Russian troops from an airfield in Pristina after their surprise takeover of the airport. close
