Iowa House Republican Steve King spoke to reporters about a bill he introduced that would require the federal government to continue paying military salaries and payments on the national debt if Congress does not raise the national debt limit. He, along with Representatives Michele Bachmann and Louie Gohmert, said that the Social Security trust funds have enough money to continue these payments, and there is no reason for the U.S. to default on the payments. close
