Pictograph Cave State Park
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2013 LCV Cities Tour” in Billings, Montana from September 9-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter Communications local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on BookTV on C-SPAN2.

Jarret Kostrba visited Pictograph Cave State Park and talked about pictographs left behind by the Native Americans, as well as 3D mapping technology that has helped recreate the site and how it looked before excavations. Excavations performed at the site in the late 1930s uncovered nearly 30,000 artifacts that gave insight into the lives of people who inhabited the area at least 9,000 years ago.
