Senator Thomas Carper (D-DE) talked about his experiences in the Vietnam War. Senator Carper was a naval flight officer during the war, and served in the National Reserve after the war as a P-3 aircraft mission commander until 1991. This oral history interview was conducted by David Winkler, historian for the Naval Historical Foundation, and David Taylor, curator for the Library of Congress.

This oral history interview took place on November 17, 2002, and is part of the Library of Congress Veterans History Project. Congress established the Veterans History Project in 2000 as part of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. The project collects oral histories from veterans around the country and makes them accessible to the public. close
