House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) spoke to the press following a House Republican Conference meeting the day after he was defeated in the Virginia Republican primary election. Representative Cantor announced his decision to step down from his leadership position on July 31, 2014. He talked about the accomplishments of the Republican Party and said that he would support Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) if he would decide to run as for the position of majority leader. Representative Cantor was asked about his views on immigration reform, reasons for him losing the primary election, and his future plans. close
