Greg Starr, assistant secretary of State for diplomatic security, and Steve Linick, inspector general with the State Department, testified before the House Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi. This was the committee’s second public hearing on diplomatic security and the September 11, 2012, attack at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Greg Starr said the department had implemented 25 of 29 recommendations made by the Accountability Review Board, but although the U.S. was safer because of recommendations security risks could not be eliminated. State Department Inspector General Steve Linick who provided an overview of previous and current audits of the State Department.
