Witnesses testified about proposed legislation that would restrict approval and use of antimicrobial drugs for animals. Officials called for ending the use of antibiotics for growth promotion in hogs and other livestock, saying the overuse of antibiotics on farms could lead to drugs losing their effectiveness in human medicine. close
