House Republican leaders talked to reporters on the first anniversary of the signing of their “Contract with America.” They outlined how they had kept the contract and new pledges to the people for the days ahead concerning issues such as the budget, Medicare and welfare. Several persons also spoke about the contract’s impact on their lives.
