Mental health advocates and leaders from veteran service organizations spoke at the the National Council for Behavioral Health’s launch of its Mental Health First Aid for Veterans initiative. The program was created to help service members recognize and respond to signs of mental illness and addiction. According to the National Council for Behavioral Health, 30 percent of active duty and reserve military personnel deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan have mental health conditions requiring treatment. close
