Participants talked about the role of advocacy and alternative journalism. Ms. Calhoun spoke about changes within the alternative press movement, including an increasing emphasis on business and a declining emphasis on the type of quality, challenging and independent reporting which makes these publications different from large daily newspapers. Then the other panelists commented on her remarks. They also took questions from the audience.
