Witnesses testified about the Internet Freedom Preservation Act (HR 5353) and efforts craft new regulations for high-speed broadband networks. Some of the focus of the hearing was on allegations that the cable provider Comcast had been blocking and degrading consumer access to Internet web applications run by competitors. They also talked about the application of network neutrality guidelines, the status of a Federal Communications Commission investigation into Comcast’s business practices, and possible future FCC public hearings on the topic. close
