Curator David Wood described the original items located in Ralph Waldo Emerson’s study and Emerson’s life and career in Concord, Massachusetts. Writer and Transcendentalist Ralph Waldo Emerson died in 1882 at the age of 78. What followed was an influx of visitors to his home wishing to get a glimpse of where the famed writer worked. In order to keep up with the demand and to preserve the items, the R.W. Emerson Memorial Association decided to move his study to the Concord Museum that was being erected across the street.
