The House Budget Committee approved a budget reconciliation package of proposals from three other House committees for the fiscal year 2016 budget. The committee approved the bill by a party-line vote of 21-11. Budget Committee Ranking Member Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) introduced a motion that would call on Congress to adopt legislation to prevent a government shutdown, but it was rejected. close
