Deepak Bhargava talked about efforts by President Obama and Congress to craft immigration reform legislation, and he responded to telephone calls and electronic communications. He met earlier in the week on behalf of his Center for Community Change group with the president and other progressive and labor organizations. Mr. Bhargava said that any bill should include a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants already working in the U.S. and a way for immigrants to bring their families into the country. Other topics included border security, and Republican concerns about immigration reform.
