Representative Scott Garrett (R-NJ) talked about talked about the differences between congressional Republican and Democratic positions on Medicare spending. He said that Republicans compromised with Democrats and President Obama on raising taxes, and that voters in return wanted spending cuts to Medicare, Social Security, and other federal budget spending. Other topics included the release of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) 2013 economic outlook later in the day and House Republicans' Require a Plan Act, which would require the president to identify a year in which to balance the budget when submitting a budget plan. Representative Garrett also responded to telephone calls and electronic communications.
